BRYC soccer 2011: The Grass Stains

GAME #1
Soccer is in full force! The girls are on the same team but it works a little different here: 13 girls on the team but they divide the team into 2 on game days and play different games simultaneously, and of course, they split the girls up so Dave and I have to juggle watching them. Ugh. Another difference: everyone has the same blue & grey jerseys but wears the opposite color.

Alyssa #26

Hannah #18

It's really hard to keep score since there are two games going on, but I'm pretty sure the Grass Stains WON!

2nd grade & preschool

I say it every year...The girls are growing up way too fast!!  The girls amaze me every time something significant happens and they really show me how grown up they've become.

Alyssa and Hannah started 2nd grade this year at their new school and were such BIG girls on their first day of school. We moved here in July and immediately signed the girls up on the swim team which gave them an opportunity to meet some kids their own age and for the rest of the Summer became really good friends with a few. Okay, now I'm rambling...

Anyway, first day of school came and the girls acted like pros! They weren't nervous at all to take the bus and almost got on without saying goodbye and then they were off. (tear). Bus picks them up at 7:45 and drops them off at 3:30! Talk about a long day, right?

Alyssa is in Ms. Siwik's class
&
Hannah is in Ms. Duffy's class
It was raining on the first day so we waited at our doorstep for the bus

Dave is pointing at the sign in the window to the girls how to tell which one is Bus #5

7:45 - off they go...

3:30 - here they come!

so excited to get off the bus ALL by themselves

This year is Charlotte's 2nd year in preschool. The age cut off here is Sept 30th (her bday is Oct 3rd) so she has to be enrolled in the 3yr old class, which makes her one of the oldest in the class...I'd prefer it this way, so it works well!

She was super excited just like the older girls and couldn't wait to meet new friends and learn lots of new things. She started a couple days after the first day because we were on a waiting list, but on her first day the teacher said Charlotte was a perfect fit in the class her personality was "needed"
...I'll take that as a compliment...
showing off her new kicks...Twinkle Toes
"Mom, my twinkle toes made me SUPER fast when my buddy (Luke) was chasing me!"

EARTHQUAKE in virginia!

MAGNITUDE 5.9 - Mineral, VA (85mi south of us)

@ 1:51pm on August 23rd I was sitting on the couch watching the news about HURRICANE IRENE heading towards the east coast and everything started shaking! Some of the thoughts that came to mind were...bomb? terrorist attack? truck? end of the world? Basically everything except earthquake. But when it didn't stop, I thought to myself "crap, this is a freakin' earthquake!" Immediately, I called for the girls and we went outside. It seemed like it shook forever and the shaking was violent and LOUD. As it stopped, some of our neighbors came over and asked me if that was an earthquake. Apparently they'd never experienced one before because Virginia doesn't have earthquakes...anyway, they blamed it on us saying we brought it with us and I responded with "of course, we had to bring a little piece of home!" Ha.

When our nerves settled and we went inside we discovered that a lot of our pictures came off the walls, drawers rolled out of our dressers, books and pictures came off our shelves...

since we've been on the east coast:
-hottest Summer ever recorded
-largest earthquake VA has experienced since 1897
-hurricane Irene
...what's next???

we're having ANOTHER BABY!!!

SURPRISE!

We actually found out on June 24th, but for obvious reasons didn't announce it until recently. We were in Amarillo, TX and I just had a feeling...boring, right!

However, I'm one of those lucky ones who knows EXACTLY when and where it happened...it was the weekend of June 9th and we went to the river for an all adult trip with The Reynolds', The Ritters and the Keus'...well, lets just say, you know what happens when there aren't any kiddos and drinks are flowing like water...
baby yadrick aka: "Pat" "Nugget" will be joining our family around
March 5, 2012

This is the night we told the girls. Strangely enough, Hannah had asked me that day if I was pregnant. Where she got that idea, I have absolutely no idea but I lied to her and felt really guilty afterwards, so we told them.
